Thierry Henry has said on CBS Sports Golazo that this era of players under Jurgen Klopp at Liverpool has drawn to a close after their 5-2 hammering against Real Madrid in the Champions League.’

While the Reds started proceedings in fairytale fashion with a 2-0 lead within 14 minutes, courtesy of Darwin Nunez and Mohamed Salah, a Vinicius Jr. brace, an Eder Militao winner, an own goal from Joe Gomez and a Karim Benzema strike put an end to the hosts’ hopes at Anfield.

After the contest, Liverpool legend Jamie Carragher was especially critical of their performance but Thierry Henry made an even more damning statement about this side after their defeat to Real Madrid.

The Merseyside-based club continue to descend into mediocrity after another night where they were outplayed, outthought and outworked as the world bore witness to their failures.

After Liverpool were annihilated by Real Madrid on home soil, Thierry Henry told CBS Sports Golazo, “They conceded too many goals against Brentford, Wolves and Brighton, let alone before you play a team like Real Madrid.”

“I wanted to know where they were and I saw a fragile team. More than fragile, why? They were 2-0 up. That’s exactly the start you would like to have against a Madrid team or any team in Europe at Anfield and they couldn’t even keep that.”

Thierry Henry continued to break down the Liverpool-Real Madrid encounter, saying, “Yes, Alisson made a mistake but they didn’t bail him out. Thibaut Courtois makes a mistake, that’s a big team, they bailed him out.

“They are fragile and some things need to change. I don’t think Jurgen Klopp needs to go but some players don’t have the level anymore to play for Liverpool. It happens to the best, it happened to me. It’s the end of an era.”

Thierry Henry is spot on about Liverpool after they were humiliated by Real Madrid and there is not a single contributor to the club’s steep decline, but a culmination of factors working in tandem. It’s telling if the opposition goalkeeper in Thibaut Courtois was stunned by how far this team have fallen.
