According to a report by Italian outlet Calciomercato, the Premier League is the likeliest next destination for Juventus star and Arsenal target, Adrien Rabiot.

The Frenchman’s stock reached an all-time high at the World Cup, as he was sublime throughout the tournament, garnering praise from the likes of Alan Shearer and Didier Deschamps. The former Man City midfielder has been reported to have attracted interest from Mikel Arteta’s side, with there being no mutual agreement over his contract extension.

What may delight a number of Arsenal fans is that Adrien Rabiot could be Premier League-bound from Juventus, and that too on a free transfer.

Arsenal target Adrien Rabiot could be headed to the Premier League

Considering the Gunners still need depth in central midfield, despite Granit Xhaka enjoying a redemption arc and Jorginho looking like a stable, yet short-term signing.

Calciomercato have reported that while Juventus are offering Arsenal target Adrien Rabiot a hefty £120,000-a-week in weekly wages as part of a potential new contract, he is demanding as much as £171,000-a-week, which has meant the club have instructed him that such is only possible in the Premier League.

Furthermore, the 2nd placed side in the English top-flight are believed to be readying up a switch already for the 27-year-old, who club legend Patrick Vieira rates highly, calling him one of the ‘best’ players in his position.

Rabiot would be a risky signing

For starters, whichever club the former Paris Saint-Germain technician has played, trouble seems to have followed him, with regards to attitude problems and a range of other off-the-pitch controversy.

In addition, Rabiot struggles to hit a desired level of consistency for a player of his standard.

While Adrien Rabiot potentially having a point to prove at say, Arsenal and in the Premier League makes for a brilliant signing in theory, whether it works out in practice remains a big question mark.
