Leeds could now experience another defeat in their hunt to replace Jesse Marsch after an update on Arne Slot emerged.

What’s the story?

Well, it was 90min who claimed that Leeds are interested in hiring the 44-year-old.

Slot has guided his Feyenoord side to the top of the Eredivisie, although his efforts could now see him land a new contract in the Netherlands rather than a move to Elland Road.

Voetbal International believe the Dutchman is set to sit down and discuss a new deal with Feyenoord, as his current terms include a release clause, which allows him to join a “bigger” side if they come calling.

The update comes after Carlos Corberan put pen to paper on a new contract of his own, amid intense speculation that he would replace Marsch at Leeds.

West Brom even teased the news with a brilliant post on Twitter, which you can see below.

While this update on Slot is not exactly that encouraging for Leeds fans, he may not even be on Victor Orta’s shortlist – according to Sky Sports, anyway.

Sky reported earlier that the Dutch tactician is not among the candidates to replace Marsch, so there are conflicting reports doing the rounds.

Slot is a risk for Leeds

In our view, missing out on Slot wouldn’t be a nightmare for Leeds – we believe he is too much of a risk.

As detailed on HITC Football earlier today, the Dutchman’s Feyenoord side often dominate games without scoring too many goals, before the opposition capitalise on their chances – something that was a problematic pattern under Marsch.

Leeds have to get this appointment right as they sit 17th in the Premier League, only out of the bottom three on goal difference.

If Slot arrives and is simply another version of Marsch, then it could be curtains for Leeds.
