The family of the late Jimmy Greaves have lauded Harry Kane as the Tottenham striker broke the all-time goalscoring record for Spurs at the weekend against Manchester City.
Taking to Twitter, Greaves’ family were full of praise for the England captain as Kane surpassed the Tottenham legend in the club’s all-time scoring records with his 267th goal for the Premier League side, securing Spurs a huge three points in the process.
Greaves is regarded by many as the best goalscorer England has ever produced and one of the greatest strikers of the 20th century, with Tottenham and Three Lions icon scoring 469 club goals and another 44 for England, with the Essex-born forward also part of the 1966 FIFA World Cup-winning squad.
Indeed, many didn’t think that Greaves Tottenham record would be broken at any stage, however, Kane has blown all expectations out of the water, with the Spurs striker now setting his sights on the all-time Premier League record set by Alan Shearer.
And it is a welcome sight to see the family of Greaves, who passed away in late 2021 at the age of 81, to applaud Kane and recognise the attacker’s incredible achievements, with the Tottenham star firmly on his way to becoming the club’s best-ever player.
Harry Kane breaking Tottenham’s all-time scoring record is huge

Kane has long-been tipped to one day become the Premier League’s all-time leading scorer, and the Tottenham star breaking Greaves’ club record is a big step in the right direction for the England captain to now beating Shearer’s feat in the coming years.
Whilst a European transfer for actual silverware might interfere with these plans, there’s no denying that Kane will have his mind set on beating Shearer’s record having now claimed Greaves’ achievement for Tottenham, something that is huge in the attacker’s career.
