Alan Shearer has told Tottenham striker Harry Kane that he will come to visit the England captain at Hotspur Way again in ‘a few years’ time when he scores Premier League goal number 261 and breaks his record.
The 29-year-old, who was undertaking a goalscoring masterclass season alongside Shearer at Spurs’ training ground recently, simply responded by saying ‘hope so’.
On Sunday, Kane helped Antonio Conte’s Tottenham to a deserved and much-needed 1-0 win over Manchester City in the Premier League.

It will go down as one of the most historic moments in Kane’s goal-crazy career because he became his club’s all-time leading goalscorer with 267 goals – surpassing Jimmy Greaves’ record.
Added to that, he also netted goal number 200 in the Premier League. Only two other men have done that, Wayne Rooney and Shearer himself.
Well, when the duo finished their recent goalscorer masterclass session, this is how Kane responded to Shearer telling him that he will break the 260 record, as he told Premier League Productions (05/02/23 at 1:30 pm).
“Thank You very much for getting in the mind of a great goalscorer,” said Shearer.
“I will come and visit you in two or three years time when you score goal number 261 in the Premier League.”
Kane’s response: “Hope so, let’s hope so. Thank you very much.”

WILL KANE REMAIN IN THE PREMIER LEAGUE?
He’s not even hit his 30s yet, but Kane has all the time in the world to, not just beat Shearer’s record, but possibly head towards the 300 mark and beyond.
There is every chance that could happen. But he needs to stay in the Premier League for it to happen.
The Spurs record-breaker has less than 18 months left on his current deal and there is talk that German giants Bayern Munich want to sign him in the summer.
If that’s the case, then that Shearer record might just stand, which would delight the striker-turned-pundit, no doubt.
