ESPN pundit Steve Nicol has said that Arsenal gem Bukayo Saka had his most disappointing game of the season against Everton, as Vitaliy Mykolenko managed to keep him quiet for large parts of the contest.

The £70,000-a-week wideman has been scintillating for Mikel Arteta’s side this campaign, having a strong claim for being the most in-form right-winger in the world currently.

However, the pundit has claimed that Bukayo Saka was far from his usual electric best for Arsenal in their 1-0 defeat to Everton, as Vitaliy Mykolenko did a number on him at Goodison Park.

Ultimately, it’s hard to argue with one of the most outspoken voices the game has to offer, as the Ukrainian left-back stood up tall to the challenge of coming up against a truly elite winger.

As a result, ESPN pundit Steve Nicol said that Bukayo Saka was kept subdued against Everton, as Arsenal only lost their second game of the league season due to the presence of Vitaliy Mykolenko.

“[Vitaliy] Mykolenko gave [Bukayo] Saka nothing. That’s probably the worst game we’ve ever seen from Saka all season”, he said on ESPN.

Unlike Manchester United’s Luke Shaw, the ex-Dynamo Kyiv defender was touch-tight against the Englishman, which made life difficult for him. With the tireless Dwight McNeil helping to double up on the youngster as well, he had no pray all evening.

Vitaliy Mykolenko, as the pundit implied had an extremely aggressive approach up against Bukayo Saka, which was a crucial reason why the biggest attacking threat Arsenal had to offer was subdued against Everton.

Ultimately, Saka is allowed to have an off game here and there, as he is only a young player and more importantly, he has largely been incredibly consistent this season.
