Tottenham Hotspur striker Harry Kane, who scored the winner in his side’s 1-0 win against Man City made history by becoming the club’s all-time top goalscorer by breaking Jimmy Greaves’ record, but also dropped a subtle hint that he may sign a new contract.

The England captain latched onto a pass inside the box after a comedy of errors by Pep Guardiola’s side at the back to open the scoring, which proved to be the difference between both sides, with Matt Doherty crowning him as ‘the best striker in the world’, as well as Gary Neville and Gary Lineker singing the legendary striker’s praises.

While Tottenham fans are likely to be over the moon about the result and the fact that Harry Kane broke Jimmy Greaves’ record against Man City, they will be all smiles after discovering that he hinted at signing a new contract.

With the 29-year-old’s current deal set to expire in 2024 and Bayern Munich widely reported to be eyeing a move for him, many felt he coud depart his boyhood club in the summer.

However, Harry Kane has all but confirmed that he will sign a new contract, while discussing the fact that he broke Jimmy Greaves’ goalscoring record against Man City for Tottenham.

“It’s a magical moment. I was so desperate to do it [break Jimmy Greaves’ record] with a win. Once we went 1-0 up [against Man City], it was about the clean sheet”, Tottenham ace Harry Kane told Sky Sports, before going on to discuss a potential new contract.

He continued, “To do it in front of the fans is a special moment. There has been so much talk about it, I just wanted to get it done. So, to do it in a big game against one of the best teams in the world is special.”

“When I started playing regularly, it wasn’t even in my imagination to score 200 Premier League goals. To be there now is exciting and I’ve got plenty of years left, so there will be a few more to come.”
