Whatever happens over the next five days, Arsenal‘s deal for Mykhailo Mudryk hijacked by Chelsea will be one of the stories of the January transfer window.
The Gunners looked set to sign Mudryk from Shakhtar Donetsk, only for Graham Potter and co at Stamford Bridge to come from nowhere and sign the 22-year-old attacker.
And judging by his cameo against Liverpool last week, it looks like Chelsea have signed themselves a brilliant talent.
However, Arsenal could get revenge on the Blues.
That’s because Fabrizio Romano has reported through Caught Offside that the North Londoners could make a late play for Moises Caicedo of Brighton & Hove Albion.

Caicedo has been on Chelsea’s radar for virtually the entire month and it was reported this week that they were preparing a second offer for the player [GMS].
Romano said this morning: “I wouldn’t exclude anything happening in the final days, after last summer they tried on Deadline Day for Douglas Luiz out of nothing. Let’s see for Caicedo, it’s important to underline that Brighton have no intention to sell unless they receive an important bid; Arsenal are informed on the player’s side.”
That last bit is significant, as Romano hints that the player is already aware of Arsenal’s interest.
And with Mikel Arteta’s side top of the Premier League table by five points – with a game in hand – well they’re a genuine threat to Chelsea it would seem.
This would be the perfect revenge for their London rivals signing Mudryk, but it would take a lot of money and whether the Emirates Stadium outfit are prepared to spend remains to be seen.
