Another day, another late twist in a transfer tale involving Arsenal.
Indeed, almost two weeks after Mykhaylo Mudryk joined Chelsea in a hijacked deal, the Gunners could be about to pull off a hijack of their own.
According to Corriere Dello Sport, the Gunners are now more likely than Leeds United to sign Weston McKennie this month.
This comes just hours after the likes of Di Marzio and Fabrizio Romano reported that the ‘superstar’ had agreed to join Leeds.
To be honest, it’s not hard to understand why Arsenal may be able to jump the queue in this race.
With all due respect to Leeds, they’re not on Arsenal’s level at this moment in time.
The north London club look like champions-elect, while Leeds are looking into the abyss with the possibility of relegation to the Championship looming large at Elland Road.

Think about it. McKennie is accustomed to playing top-level football at Juventus, the idea that he’d swap Juve for Leeds never sounded all that realistic.
Arsenal certainly do need a midfielder as they’re lacking depth behind both Thomas Partey and Granit Xhaka, but, apparently, there is no concrete offer on the table for McKennie just yet. However, the noises that are coming out seem to suggest that they will be in pole position to finalise this deal should they make this move.
Edu has already proven this month that he knows how to get a deal done in a short space of time. Leandro Trossard was signed just days after the Mudryk saga, while Jakub Kiwior was brought in without much speculation at all.
It sounds as though this McKennie deal could move very quickly, so it’s one to keep an eye on.
As for Leeds, they may have to go back to the drawing board in their hunt for a new midfielder, but luckily, Azzedine Ounahi is there as a backup option amid links to the Moroccan.
