Tottenham Hotspur want Weston McKennie but Borussia Dortmund are ready to launch an ‘important’ offer for the Juventus midfielder.

Spurs are linked with McKennie in pretty much every window at this point.

The rumours have been ramping up after McKennie showed promising signs for the United States at the World Cup.

Tuttosport claim that Tottenham have started new talks to try and sign McKennie in the January transfer window.

Yet if Tottenham are hoping to push for McKennie’s signature they may now face major competition from Bundesliga giants Dortmund.

Tuttomercatoweb claim that Dortmund are now ‘coming forward’ to challenge Tottenham in the race for McKennie.

It’s added that Dortmund could make an ‘important offer’ very soon as they look to swoop in ahead of the January transfer window.

Paratici won’t want to miss out on bringing McKennie to Tottenham

That would be something of a controversial transfer from McKennie.

McKennie turned out for Schalke 91 times before joining Juventus, and Schalke are the bitter rivals of Dortmund.

Many in Gelsenkirchen would be outraged if McKennie ended up at Dortmund but that is now becoming a real possibility.

That’s a real concern for Fabio Paratici, with Tottenham’s director of football understood to be a huge fan of McKennie.

Paratici brought McKennie to Juventus and that’s ultimately why there have been so many links to Spurs in recent times.

Tottenham reporter Alasdair Gold has even claimed on YouTube that Paratici thinks McKennie is a ‘superstar’ and remains a huge fan of the American.

There has been a feeling for some time now that if McKennie is going to leave Juventus then it would be to Tottenham.

Yet with Dortmund now making a real push of their own, Spurs may need to ramp up their interest in McKennie – or ultimately risk missing out on him.
