Tottenham Hotspur seem to be closing in on Nicolo Zaniolo.
At least, that is what reports over the weekend seemed to indicate.
According to Italian journalist Rudy Galetti, Spurs have already agreed personal terms with the Roma attacker, who made himself unavailable for their win over Spezia on Sunday.
But there could potentially be a twist in the tale.
That’s because CMW are reporting today that Paris Saint-Germain are set to enter the race late on – with a ‘bizarre’ proposal.

According to the Italian outlet, the Ligue 1 would like to use Georginio Wijnaldum – on loan at Jose Mourinho’s side – as leverage to bring Zaniolo to the French capital.
Even without that potential player-plus-cash arrangement, the French champions have the clout and resources to truly gazump Tottenham here.
And for the Lilywhites’ sake, you’d hope that this is merely a product of the rumour mill and doesn’t have any credibility whatsoever.
The North Londoners are having an awful January on and off the field, whether it’s losing football matches or being relatively inactive in the transfer window.
And now that they’re finally making a move to sign someone, it would be devastating for them if PSG were to nick Tottenham’s primary target.
Antonio Conte still needs defenders, irrespective of what happens with Zaniolo, but this would only decrease the morale in and around the club.
