Celtic star Kyogo Furuhashi stunned Leanne Crichton with his technique to score two goals against Greenock Morton. The Japan striker helped the Hoops win the Scottish Cup tie 5-0.
Aaron Mooy (18’) broke the deadlock with a controversial penalty after the VAR adjudged Efe Ambrose to have handled the ball. The midfielder (84’) would also conclude the scoring after Furuhashi (21’, 45+1’) and David Turnbull (42’) lashed home at Parkhead on Saturday.
Furuhashi now has 20 goals in his tally from 29 appearances across all competitions so far this season. The 28-year-old has also laid on two assists after registering his second of the term against Morton. Furuhashi found Turnbull to find the bottom corner from 20 yards out.

Celtic boss Ange Postecoglou had not seen Furuhashi lay on an assist since Jota scored at RB Leipzig in October. The winger hit home in a 3-1 Champions League group stage defeat. Furuhashi did not score in the UEFA competition from six appearances while starting in five.
Instead, 17 of Furuhashi’s 20 goals so far this season have come during his 20 Premiership appearances. The 16-cap attacker also hit home once over two outings in the League Cup. He scored during the Bhoys’ 4-0 rout at Motherwell in October but not against Kilmarnock.

Furuhashi stunned Crichton with the Celtic star’s second goal vs Morton
Furuhashi scored two different types of goals to bag a brace in Celtic’s Scottish Cup rout of Morton on Saturday. He first dinked the ball over Brian Schwake from Liel Abada’s through ball. Postecoglou’s £4.5m forward then smashed the roof of the goal just before the break.
Two goals and one assist as Celtic led Morton 4-0 were enough for Postecoglou to replace Furuhashi with Sead Haksabanovic at half-time. The former Vissel Kobe star’s two touches to score his second goal were also enough to stun former Scotland international Crichton.
“That is unbelievable from Kyogo,” Crichton stated on BBC Sportscene. “He is so clinical in those areas. If you give him a half-yard to get a shot off, he rarely misses.
“Morton had good numbers in the area but they don’t do enough to clear it. His first touch is to get it out his feet. Second touch, it’s in the back of the net.”
Furuhashi has now scored nine goals in as many games since Celtic returned to action from the World Cup break. Only Aberdeen and Kilmarnock (in the Premiership and in the League Cup) have stopped the Ikoma, Nara native from finding the back of the net during that run.
