The Scottish Sun claim Celtic have reignited previous interest to sign Hibernian striker Kevin Nisbet as a replacement for Giorgos Giakoumakis – who looks more than likely to leave Parkhead, after Urawa Red Diamonds agreed a fee.
Giakoumakis, 28, looks likely to move to Japan with Urawa after Fabrizio Romano said the two clubs agreed a £3.5m sale. MLS side Atlanta United are also interested in him. Chris Sutton responded, saying the potential deal is “bonkers”.
Celtic need another striker to replace the Greece international. The Sun says that Celtic are looking at Nisbet, who has been in stunning form since returning after the World Cup break from an ACL injury. He has seven goals in six games.
On Saturday, he nabbed a brace in a 2-2 draw with Dundee United – taking his tally to five goals in the last two games. Celtic were previously linked with the 10-time Scotland star in 2021. Now, Celtic are keen to bring him in at Parkhead.

A player that ex-Rangers striker Kevin Kyle suggested Celtic’s Old Firm rivals should consider signing. Alfredo Morelos is out of contract in the summer and Antonio Colak is struggling for fitness. Kyle suggested Rangers make a “daft bid”.
Celtic reignite interest to sign Hibernian striker Nisbet, amid superb form
Nisbet is clearly too good for Hibernian. He is a striker that would score plenty of goals for either Celtic or Rangers. Whether or not he would be tempted to move to the Old Firm remains to be seen. Or, could he go down to England?
Well, Celtic look as though they are going to make a move for Nisbet. With Giakoumakis leaving, Nisbet does seem like the perfect addition up top. Whether they can convince Hibs to sell, with his deal ending in 2024, remains to be seen.
