The Tottenham transfer news hasn’t been riveting for supporters so far, it has to be said.

Virtually all of Spurs’ Premier League rivals are either linked to the signing of exciting players, or in the case of Liverpool and Chelsea, have already brought some in.

Tottenham, on the other hand, don’t seem to be overly active in the January transfer window.

But one player who the Lilywhites could be signing is a long-time target – Nicolo Zaniolo.

According to Alfredo Pedulla, the North Londoners are winning the race to sign the Roma winger this winter.

The report claims that Tottenham are in the ‘front row’ to secure his signature.

As mentioned, this is someone who Spurs have been linked to before and it amounted to nothing in the past.

This is also someone who Jose Mourinho, his manager at Roma, is a massive admirer of.

In 2021, the former Tottenham manager said this of the Italy international [SportsMob]: “He seems super-professional and I had heard about him as quite an immature lad, but that’s not what I have found working with him. I don’t like comparing Zaniolo to players of the past, but I can say there are few out there with this amount of potential.”

The Portuguese boss clearly has a soft spot for the player and he might be powerless to keep him in the Italian capital.

But will Daniel Levy pay the money?

According to Pedulla again, he could go for as little as £26.6 million – not including bonuses – and therefore if Tottenham really do want him, he’s there for the taking.
