Tottenham Hotspur want Leandro Trossard and have made contact with Brighton and Hove Albion over a potential deal.
That’s according to 90Min, who claim that Tottenham have asked about Trossard’s availability for a move away this month.
It’s suggested that Trossard isn’t an absolute top target for Tottenham this month but they are being kept informed about his future.
Newcastle United are also interested in signing Trossard but Brighton don’t want to let him go for a knockdown fee.
Magpies director of football Dan Ashworth is understood to be a big fan of Trossard and fancies luring him to St James’ Park.
Brighton have activated a one-year extension in Trossard’s contract so they aren’t absolutely desperate to sell right now.
Tottenham and Newcastle won’t get a bargain out of Brighton but could make moves for Trossard later in the window.

Where could Trossard feature for Tottenham?
Hailed as ‘unreal’ by Rio Ferdinand, Trossard has shown off his versatility for Brighton and that may be a big factor in Tottenham’s interest.
The 28-year-old has played as a winger, wing back, striker and attacking midfielder during his time with Brighton.
Antonio Conte’s 3-4-3 system means Trossard could feature as a wing back or winger on a regular basis, even offering some ability to play up top.
That kind of versatility feels a little similar to Ivan Perisic, who isn’t getting any younger at almost 34.
We could see Trossard being the main competition for Son Heung-min down the left flank whilst having the ability to play elsewhere.
Conte likes having proven players in his squad and Trossard fits that bill at 28 with more than 100 Premier League appearances under his belt.
When you add all of that together, you can understand why Tottenham are keen on Trossard – but at 28 they must be wary of paying a little too much for a player who is unlikely to develop into a first-choice player in North London.
