Speaking on Vibe with Five, Rio Ferdinand has been discussing reported Arsenal target Leandro Trossard after his magnificent hat-trick against Liverpool at the weekend.

The Belgium international became just the third player in Premier League history to net a hat-trick away at Liverpool on Saturday, and he did it in some style.

Trossard had the Liverpool defence in the palm of his hands at the weekend, and, of course, a performance like this has sparked plenty of speculation about his future.

With all due respect to Brighton, Trossard could probably be playing for a much bigger club right now, and Ferdinand can’t understand why a top team hasn’t come in for him yet.

Ferdinand blown away by Trossard

The former Manchester United man questioned why Trossard hasn’t been picked up yet.

“Oh a hat-trick. How he’s not been courted by a big team I will never know, I think he’s unreal,” Ferdinand said.

A matter of time

Ferdinand is absolutely right, it’s hard to understand why Trossard hasn’t been signed by a top side yet, but surely it’s just a matter of time before he heads to a side competing for a spot in the Champions League.

Arsenal have recently been credited with an interest, while Chelsea could also make a move after appointing Trossard’s former manager Graham Potter.

Sadly for Brighton, a club of that stature rarely gets to keep hold of a player of this talent, and it wouldn’t surprise us one bit if Trossard is one of the main players we’re speaking about by the time the January transfer window rolls around.

It may not be long before Trossard is playing at the top level and competing for the biggest honours in the game.
