Celtic right-back Josip Juranovic may now finalise his January transfer to AC Monza ‘within days’. The Serie A side are seeking to secure his services swiftly after positive negotiations.

That is according to The Scottish Sun, which reports the Biancorossi are hopeful of signing the Croatia star for £7m. Talks between the Italian club and Scottish giants are progressing well after the defender failed to regain his presence under Ange Postecoglou at Parkhead.

Juranovic has only played once from three Premiership fixtures since returning to Glasgow following the World Cup in Qatar. He also only featured for 69 minutes against Rangers on January 2 after replacing Greg Taylor. The Hoops left-back had suffered a hamstring injury.

Alistair Johnston has kept Juranovic out of the Celtic line-up at right-back following a £3m January transfer from CF Montreal. While Postecoglou’s £3.75m summer arrival Alexandro Bernabei replaced Taylor at left-back at home to Kilmarnock with Juranovic on the bench.

Talks between Monza and Celtic could now see Juranovic walk away from his battle for his place at Parkhead. TuttoMercatoWEB has also claimed the Biancorossi’s interest in the 27-year-old going to Stadio Brianteo. But it cited the Serie A side’s wish for an initial loan deal.

Monza are moving ever closer to securing Juranovic’s transfer from Celtic

Monza made Celtic a concrete offer to hire Juranovic on loan with an obligation for a €7m (£6m) permanent transfer. But The Scottish Sun claims a higher valuation for his proposed switch only 17 months since the defender joined the Hoops from Legia Warsaw for £2.5m.

Joe Hart also lauded the Zagreb native prior to him representing Croatia at the World Cup. The Bhoys goalkeeper told Sky Sports that Juranovic was ‘superb’ before he helped Vatreni finish third in Qatar. The 27-cap dynamo started in six encounters and provided one assist.

Yet Juranovic could now leave Glasgow after offering three assists and six goals through 51 appearances in all competitions. Postecoglou has fielded him in 16 games, starting 15, this season for one goal and one assist. His goal involvements came in nine Premiership games.
