Mudryk contract expiry has been a trending topic as Arsenal continue to pursue the £85m Shakhtar Donetsk wonderkid.

The Gunners have already seen a bid worth £55m rejected by the Ukrainian giants, and the Evening Standard believe their improved offer in the region of £60m is also set to be rebuffed.

Chelsea have also now joined the race, and as a result, a number of Arsenal fans have been keen to know how much time remains on the 22-year-old’s contract.

So, when does Mudryk’s contract expire? Let’s take a look…

Well, for those Arsenal fans hoping to hear that Mudryk doesn’t have long remaining on his contract at Shakhtar Donetsk, we’re afraid we’ll have to disappoint you.

The Ukraine international is contracted to Shakhtar Donetsk until December 31st 2026 – according to Transfermarkt.

That explains why the Ukrainian Premier League side are demanding £85m for their talisman.

If Mudryk was in the final 12 or 24 months of his contract, Shakhtar Donetsk would probably be more open to a sale at a lower price, especially if he showed no intention of signing a new deal.

In that hypothetical scenario, they would prefer to sell quickly rather than wait until his value gets lower and lower.

While the rapid forward seems very keen to join Arsenal – Fabrizio Romano believes he has given Mikel Arteta his word – Shakhtar Donetsk do not have to worry about his value decreasing given the length of time left on his contract.

Therefore, the Ukrainian giants are in a very comfortable position, and can even afford to wait until the summer when more sides will be in a position to get close to their asking price.

In our view, Arsenal could afford to wait until the summer as well – Arteta has some excellent attacking options, such as Gabriel Martinelli and Bukayo Saka.

However, the Spaniard lacks depth in his frontline, and we believe there should be urgency to sign Mudryk now in order to boost hopes of winning the Premier League – it could all fall apart if fresh options do not arrive.

The likes of Liverpool, Chelsea and Manchester United find themselves in transition seasons, which has been beneficial for Arsenal as only Manchester City are competing for the title with them.

Having said that, it could all change next season, so Arsenal must sign Mudryk now – he could be the difference between winning the title and finishing second.
