Harry Redknapp says Bryan Gil was ‘brilliant’ for Tottenham Hotspur during their 4-0 win over Crystal Palace on Wednesday night despite ‘never’ getting a game previously.
Antonio Conte’s side went into that all-London affair in a bad run of form, in terms of performances, and having suffered a 2-0 defeat to Aston Villa just days before.
Gil, who was signed by Spurs during the 2021 summer transfer window when Nuno Espirito Santo was in charge, started that Villa game, but he didn’t impress.

The 21-year-old is only starting because the likes of Dejan Kulusevski and Richarlison are out injured, but despite that poor showing against Villa, he was handed his first back-to-back starts since being at the club.
And that resulted in him producing his best performance in Spurs colours, including supplying Harry Kane with his second goal of the game.
Former Premier League boss Harry Redknapp is certainly delighted that Gil has been handed a chance and he praised the Spain international for yesterday’s performance.
“They give a chance to the boy Gil,” said Redknapp. “He came in and he was brilliant. He was brilliant. Never gets a game. Give him a game, who knows?
“We saw last night what he can do.”

CONSISTENT RUN OF GAMES
This is what Gil has needed and this is what he will continue to need.
The injuries to Kulusevski and Richarlison have been a blessing in disguise to the player because, without them, he would still be sitting on the bench.
These regular starts will now continue to come this month, it’s just a case of taking them and trying to cement his place in Tottenham’s XI.
