According to Record, Enzo Fernandez has missed two Benfica training sessions as speculation about his future ramps up.

Fernandez is back with Benfica after the World Cup. He even started their game at the weekend in a 3-0 loss to Braca, but now, it looks like he’s really pushing for a move away from the Lisbon outfit.

Indeed, Record are now reporting that he’s missed two training sessions and is facing internal disciplinary actions after this discretion.

It surely isn’t a coincidence that this comes against the backdrop of massive transfer interest in the player.

Indeed, both Liverpool and Chelsea are keen on Fernandez. The Blues are supposedly set to table a bid, while the Reds reportedly held talks with Jorge Mendes about this player last week.

The race for Fernandez’s signature is heating up, and now, it sounds like the player himself is angling for a move.

However, he may not be doing himself any favours here, especially when a move to a club like Liverpool is on the line.

The Reds pride themselves on having a group of players that are loyal to a fault and consummate professionals – missing training doesn’t exactly fit into that ethos.

Yes, he seemingly wants a transfer, but there are ways and means to go about this without being unprofessional.

An unauthorised absence for training is one of the worst things a professional footballer can do, and we have to wonder whether Jurgen Klopp and Liverpool would actually want a player in their team with this type of attitude.

As we all know, Fernandez is a wonderful footballer – he was described as ‘spectacular’ at the World Cup, but this stunt really isn’t what you want to see from a young player who is only just making his name in the game.

Where the midfielder ends up remains to be seen, but it wouldn’t be surprising at all if he’s played his last game for Benfica at this point.
