Aaron Wan-Bissaka’s impressive Manchester United performance in the 2-0 Carabao Cup victory over Burnley had Gary Neville raving about the reported Wolves, Crystal Palace and West Ham target, speaking to Sky Sports (21 December, 9pm).

After playing only four minutes of football during the first few months of the current campaign, an injury to Erik Ten Hag favourite Diogo Dalot saw a rare opportunity fall squarely into Wan-Bissaka’s lap on Wednesday night.

And didn’t he just take it.

The seldom-seen England international was excellent on his first start of 2022/23; a brilliantly instinctive assist for Christian Eriksen’s 27th minute opener undoubtedly the highlight of an eye-catching display.

West Ham, Wolves and Crystal Palace target Aaron Wan-Bissaka shines in Carabao Cup win

“He is pretty solid defensively,” says Neville, who knows a thing or two about life as a United right-back.

“But a lot is expected of a modern full-back. We often say that he’s not good enough with the ball. I agree with that, but that assist was absolutely brilliant.”

This was only Wan-Bissaka’s 11th assist in 128 appearances for the Premier League giants. Only time will tell whether it will also be his last. According to 90Min, the Croydon-born 25-year-old is not part of Ten Hag’s plans at Old Trafford, with United looking at the likes of Josip Juranovic and one-time Manchester City starlet Jeremie Frimpong ahead of the January transfer window.

West Ham and Wolves are keen on the £50 million benchwarmer. Crystal Palace are also in talks to bring a former academy graduate back for a second spell at Selhurst Park.

“They’ve got a propensity to do that. They brought (Nathaniel) Clyne and (Wilfried) Zaha back,” Simon Jordan, who spent a decade at Selhurst Park from 2000 to 2010, tells talkSPORT (21 December, 11.40am).

“If Palace can do that deal, then I’m sure they will. I think Wan-Bissaka is a good defender.”

Crystal Palace are also eyeing up Galatasaray’s Sacha Boey. The Turkish giants, however, have no plans to cash in on the one-time Celtic target.
