Newcastle United are not put off by the price tag Brighton & Hove Albion will demand to sell Moises Caicedo. But the Ecuador midfielder is also a target for rivals Liverpool and Chelsea.
That is according to the Daily Mail, which reports Caicedo is likely to be the next rising star to leave the Amex Stadium. The Seagulls accept they must continually move their best and brightest players on every now and then. And the 21-year-old will be no different in 2023.

But teams wishing to raid the south coast side for a star of Ecuador’s World Cup campaign face paying £60m. Brighton know that Caicedo is only going to keep improving and is now showing a greater goal presence. He is also an athletic ball-winner playing at a high level.

Brighton’s price tag will not stop Newcastle from targeting Caicedo in 2023
Brighton’s price tag will not stop Newcastle from targeting Caicedo in 2023, however. The Magpies are keen admirers of the 28-cap enforcer and will explore his services despite the £60m valuation on him. Although they are not the only Premier League outfit interested.
Reports by Sky Sports credit Chelsea and Liverpool with an interest in Caicedo, as well. The Santo Domingo native impressed the Blues and Reds with his performances at the World Cup in Qatar. He played every minute of Ecuador’s three Group A ties and scored one goal.

Caicedo will net the Seagulls a huge profit as vultures circle on the south coast
Brighton have no interest in letting those displays now lead to a January transfer out of the Amex. Caicedo is also under contract on the south coast through to 2025 on the terms he agreed to when joining from his academy side Independiente del Valle for £4.5m in 2021.
Chelsea and Manchester United were keen on Caicedo at the time of his arrival in England, per the Daily Mail. Now, Graham Potter is eager to take the midfielder to Stamford Bridge after signing him for Brighton. But Newcastle will not back out of the race without a fight.

That fight will very much be with Brighton, too, as Caicedo has played almost every minute of their Premier League season. He has played 1,248 of a possible 1,260 from 14 games so far. Seagulls centre-half Adam Webster also hails his teammate as an ‘incredible’ operator.
Newcastle will hope Caicedo does not show why Brighton have slapped the £60m price tag on him when the two sides meet in February. While the Seagulls will hope they have the 5 ft 10 ace in their team at St James’ Park and not lining up against them after a January move.
