Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp has told the club’s official website that he has been told that Mikel Arteta’s Arsenal played well in their first friendly match in Dubai during the World Cup break.

Arsenal got the better of French club Lyon 3-0 in the Dubai Super Cup this week.

Gabriel, Eddie Nketiah and Fabio Vieira scored the goals for Mikel Arteta’s side.

Arsenal’s Premier League rivals Liverpool will lock horns with Ligue 1 club Lyon in the Dubai Super Cup on Sunday.

And Klopp has said that he has been told that Arsenal played well against Lyon.

Liverpool’s Jurgen Klopp on Mikel Arteta’s Arsenal

Klopp said: “It makes no sense that we play Arsenal, so we had four teams and now we play Lyon and AC Milan – Arsenal is doing the same.

“And if you don’t play all the games, how can we find, in the end, a winner as well? So it helps if you give four points instead of three. I think it’s a nice idea and now we give it a try.”

The Liverpool boss added: “Arsenal, what I’ve heard, were really good in that game. And now we will have our start on Sunday and it’s good.”

Preparing

Arsenal and Liverpool are in Dubai preparing for the second half of the season.

The Gunners are at the top of the Premier League table at the moment and are as many as five points clear of second-placed and defending champions Manchester City.

Arsenal are also in the UEFA Europa League.

However, star striker Gabriel Jesus is injured, and that could affect Arsenal.

Meanwhile, Liverpool are out of the running for the Premier League title, but the former UEFA Champions League winners can certainly end up in the top four.

The Merseyside club have also reached the knockout rounds of the UEFA Champions League.
