It isn’t official just yet, but it looks like Rangers will be hiring a replacement for Giovanni van Bronckhorst sooner rather than later.
Last week, the Gers parted company with the Dutch manager.
Rangers are nine points behind Celtic in the Scottish Premiership title race and failed to record a single point on their return to the Champions League group stage.
According to talkSPORT, as covered by HITC Sport, QPR expect Michael Beale to return to Ibrox in a managerial capacity.
The 42-year-old was part of Steven Gerrard’s coaching staff in Glasgow, having worked alongside the legendary midfielder at Liverpool, too.

He is making quite a name for himself and it seems only a matter of time before he gets the Rangers job.
From a coaching perspective, Beale has certainly earned his stripes and historic comments from Jermain Defoe illustrate how exceptional he is in this department.
According to Defoe, Gerrard described the would-be Rangers manager as ‘proper’ prior to signing for the club.
He told The Beautiful Game podcast in July of 2020: “He’s impressed me in a big way. When I sat down and spoke to Stevie before I signed, he said ‘you might know Mick Beale, he is proper’. The way I see it is, in terms of tactics and stuff like that, he is up there.
“I’ve worked with some top managers and top coaches and he is up there. His attention to detail and how he puts his points across for people to understand.”
Despite still being wet behind the ears in a managerial sense, Beale, who has only 22 senior games under his belt, will have to enjoy a fast and furious start to life at Ibrox.
Yes, Celtic are nine points clear of Rangers, but that isn’t an excuse to start planning for the 2023-24 campaign already.
Beale will still have to hit the ground running but, if Defoe’s comments are anything to go by, the man himself will be prepared for that.
