Italian journalist Francesco Oppini has delivered a worrying update regarding manager Antonio Conte and his future at Tottenham – telling JuventusNews24 that Conte considers Juventus to be his home and will return at some point.

The 53-year-old is out of contract at the end of the season. The state of play is, that there is interest from his old club Juventus. But, the relationship between Conte and Andrea Agnelli would need fixing – if Conte was to return to Juve.

Then, it is what Spurs want to do. There is an option to extend his contract by another 12 months – but Spurs might want to extend Conte’s contract beyond June 2024. Dean Jones says Conte and Spurs have a meeting soon.

So, there are a few possible outcomes. Conte leaves Spurs – whether that is to Juventus, who knows. He could sign an extension, he could sign a long-term deal. Oppini now delivers a verdict, saying he knows Conte sees Juve as his home.

“I see it possible,” Oppini said, when asked if Conte could return to Juventus. “From the knowledge I have, I know that Antonio considers Juve to be his home and sooner or later he would like to return.”

Oppini: Tottenham manager Conte considers Juventus to be his home

Oppini’s verdict might not come as a surprise to Spurs fans. But it remains clear. If Spurs are to be able to keep Conte, then they need to back him in the transfer market. Starting with January. Failure to do so, and he will walk away.

Daniel Levy will also know that if he can keep Conte, then Harry Kane and Son Heung-min are likely to stick around, too. If Conte goes, Kane may reconsider his future with his own contract due to expire at the end of next season.

Some big decisions to make for Levy in the coming weeks and months. Whatever he does do, he will need to put his hand in his pocket – whether that is keeping Conte and Kane, or, replacing them.
