Arsenal wonderkid Myles Lewis-Skelly will travel to Dubai with Mikel Arteta and the first-team squad for the upcoming warm weather training camp.

That is according to Jeorge Bird, with the journalist claiming that the 16-year-old sensation has also recently been taking part in first-team sessions at London Colney.

Arsenal call up Lewis-Skelly

Well, the England Under-17 international has made tremendous progress in the Hale End Academy, and Arteta has now rewarded him with a place on the plane to Dubai.

Lewis-Skelly has already made one appearance for the Arsenal Under-21 side, which speaks volumes given the fact he is only 16 years of age.

The defensive midfielder, who reminds us of the now retired Belgian maestro Mousa Dembele, has caught Arteta’s eye with some incredible performances at the base of midfield, where he shows unerring levels of composure.

As you can see above, Lewis-Skelly excels at receiving the ball deep inside his own half, before spinning away from pressure and surging up the pitch to start an attack.

The teenager was described as a “cheat code” by Wayne Routledge in the comments section of that video, and we simply cannot disagree – nobody can get near him.

Arsenal have a special talent in Lewis-Skelly

What excites us most about Lewis-Skelly is that his best attributes are those that usually come with experience – very few youngsters possess the composure and intelligence he has been blessed with.

Receiving the ball in a No.6 role just ahead of the back four is a very pressuring job, as any loss of possession in that area will usually result in the opposition testing the goalkeeper.

It requires constant scanning of your surroundings, a composed touch and immense upper body strength to shrug off the opponent, all of which Lewis-Skelly has in abundance, which is not normal for a 16-year-old.

With Arteta coaching him, we see no reason why the teenager cannot become an important player for Arsenal in future.
