Italian outlet CMW claim that Atletico Madrid manager Diego Simeone is keen on raiding Inter Milan for Tottenham target Lautaro Martinez – and is planning to offer two players, in the form of Rodrigo De Paul and Matheus Cunha.
Harry Kane’s future remains in doubt, as does the long-term future of Antonio Conte. The two may go hand in hand. Conte has a deal at Spurs until June 2023, but with the option of another 12 months, while Kane’s deal ends in 2024.
So, Spurs may have to replace both Kane and Conte. CMW have previously claimed that Spurs have put a contingency plan in place if Conte does go and Atleti boss Simeone is at the top of the list. But Cristian Stellini hinted at his stay.
If Conte remains, he may have to deal with replacing Kane. Bayern remain very interested. If he does go, CMW say that a £72million deal for Martinez will be targeted. But the latest report adds another twist, that affects Tottenham twice.
They say that Argentina international Martinez is wanted at Atletico Madrid, by Tottenham target Simeone. So, it might be that Spurs miss out on a replacement for Conte – and that same managerial target signs their replacement for Kane.

Simeone keen on Tottenham target Martinez, potential double Spurs blow
As things stand, you would expect Kane to stick with Spurs – and Conte, too. Conte has spoken about the need for a number of transfer windows at Tottenham to turn them into Premier League title challengers. They lack proper depth.
It was improved in the summer, but he is right. If he is continued to be backed, then you would expect the Italian to remain. So, that probably rules out the need for Simeone. For Kane, he would surely prefer to remain in England.
Alan Shearer’s record is on the horizon. Chelsea and Manchester United could do with a striker, but Kane would only leave Spurs for genuine title credentials. Right now, they are Arsenal or Manchester City. City have Erling Haaland.
There is absolutely no chance of City going after Kane, now. Of course, a move to Arsenal is off the cards. So, staying at Spurs also looks likely. But anything can happen in football, especially with Conte. If Conte goes, so could Kane.
