Italian outlet CMW claim that Juventus want to sign Tottenham defender Davinson Sanchez with Spurs open to the sale of South American star, if a bid in the region of £22million is tabled for the Colombia international in January.

Sanchez, 26, has fallen down the pecking order at Tottenham of late – following the signing of Cristian Romero and the addition of Antonio Conte as manager. It looks as if Conte will sign a new contract at Tottenham, in the coming weeks.

If Conte is to remain, Spurs will need to back him in the next two transfer windows, especially. In order to do so, the club will need to make room by offloading some of their fringe stars – as well as raising some cash for Conte to spend.

Indeed, the likes of Sanchez will be under threat. Spending five years at Spurs, Sanchez has clocked up 191 matches in all competitions. But this season, he has managed just 10 appearances, starting only six times for the London club.

The report claims that Juventus are showing interest in the ex-Ajax defender ahead of the January window. With Sanchez’s contract expiring in 2024, Spurs may look to sell in the next two windows. They want nearly £22million.

If Tottenham are to progress, they need to get rid of the dead wood. That is harsh on Sanchez but ultimately, he is not having an impact on the team and is now not even first reserve – indeed, Clement Lenglet has been playing of late.

Instead of replacing Romero, who has been injured, with Sanchez – Conte has brought in Lenglet. It has seen him move Eric Dier to the right of the back three and keep Ben Davies on the left. So, Sanchez has continued to warm the bench.

If Juventus come calling and table the requested £22million, you would expect Tottenham will cash in. That is despite their big initial outlay on Sanchez – having spent £42million to bring him to the club. A loss of £20million, then.
