Journalist Enrico Camelio has told CalcioMercato’s TV Play that Tottenham have handed Antonio Conte a new deal – and from what he “perceives”, it will be hard “to say no”. He says a decision will be made during the upcoming break..

Conte, 53, remains in the dugout at Tottenham after a year in charge. But having signed an 18-month deal when he took over from Nuno Espirito Santo last November, he is now out of contract at the end of the current campaign.

Spurs fans will be desperate for Conte to remain. While there have been critics of his style of play, he has taken a side struggling to qualify for Europe, and knocked out of the Conference League – to third, and in the Champions League.

Indeed, his Spurs side won Group D – thanks to a late win over Marseille in France. So, Camelio says Tottenham have now offered Conte a new deal and given the financial element of it, Conte will find it very difficult to be able to say no.

Camelio also says Conte is set to make a decision on his future when the “Championship stops”. This probably means when the World Cup break kicks into place, however, there have been murmurs a decision could come next summer.

“Conte is yet to speak to Tottenham or Juventus. They will talk when the championship stops, this does not mean that he will stay, but there are good chances, the offer will be very high. If it is what I perceived it will be difficult to say no.”

This is excellent news for Tottenham fans. It shows ambition from Daniel Levy. He is willing to pay Conte huge wages in order to keep him for beyond the end of the season. In fact, Conte is likely to be given a more-lengthy contract.

His current deal includes the option for an extension of 12 months. So, it is unlikely that Spurs will be simply handing him a new contract until the end of 23-24. Indeed, Conte is likely to be signing a new deal until June 2025, or beyond.

A move to Juventus remains unlikely given the relationship between himself and Agnelli. While Agnelli is there, Conte is unlikely to return. But, nothing is ruled out and other clubs could come in. Spurs, though, look close to a deal.
