Wonderkid Youssoufa Moukoko has hinted that he could stay at Borussia Dortmund beyond this season following reports that Liverpool want to sign the teenager.
Speaking to Sport1, the 17-year-old attacker teased that he could soon sign a new long-term contract with Dortmund, with Moukoko saying when asked about his future:“I’ve been here at Borussia Dortmund for seven years, and I feel at home here. I know this club very well and the manager Terzic trusts me.”
Moukoko made history this weekend as the prospect became the youngest player in Bundesliga history to score ten goals in the division, beating the likes of current Bayer Leverkusen star Florian Wirtz and Germany legend Lukas Podolski.
With the attacker’s contract set to expire next summer, interest has been high in Moukoko, with Liverpool one of the clubs interested in signing the teenager as reported by Sport, with FC Barcelona also in the race to land the German youth international.
Liverpool might have the resources to sign Moukoko, but the forward’s recent comments could throw a spanner in Jurgen Klopp’s plans to bring the teenager to Anfield, with the youngster seemingly keen on staying in Germany with his boyhood club Dortmund.
Indeed, Moukoko has been one of the Black and Yellow’s brightest sparks all season alongside fellow Liverpool target Jude Bellingham. Yet unlike the England international, there seems to be a more-than-certain chance that the striker remains at Dortmund rather than making the move to Merseyside in 2023.

Moukoko is no doubt one of the best prospects in Europe and a talent who could go on to dominate the best of the best if he continues on his current development plan. Yet for Liverpool, signing the teenager following his recent interview feels more like a fantasy than an actual transfer goal.
After all, the Reds this summer went big on Darwin Nunez, and with Luis Diaz taking up the mantle as Sadio Mane’s long-term replacement, signing Moukoko makes little sense when Liverpool are well-stocked in the positions the youngster would likely want to play.
