According to the Daily Mail, Nassef Sawiris and Wes Edens are prepared to spend big on something special at Aston Villa after Steven Gerrard was sacked.
Aston Villa plot ambitious Gerrard replacement
Well, usually when a Premier League side finds themselves 17th in the table, they turn to a survival specialist such as Sam Allardyce or Tony Pulis to save them from relegation.
However, those in the boardroom at Villa Park are aiming high, despite the current situation.
The Daily Mail believe Aston Villa’s billionaire owners are willing to pay one of the highest salaries in the Premier League in order to land an elite coach, after last night’s 3-0 defeat to Fulham saw Gerrard handed his P45.
Mauricio Pochettino is on their radar after his departure from PSG, as is Thomas Tuchel, who remains unemployed after receiving the sack at Chelsea in September.

Both coaches would need convincing over a move to the Midlands given the circumstances, although Aston Villa are ready to make huge financial investments in a bid to lure one of them to Villa Park.
Elsewhere, the Villans are also admirers of Brentford boss Thomas Frank, according to talkSPORT.
Aston Villa must go all out for Pochettino to replace Gerrard
In our view, Pochettino is the man needed for the project at Villa Park.
While Tuchel is obviously an outstanding coach, he has become used to taking the reins at elite sides such as PSG and Chelsea, so a situation like Aston Villa’s may be quite alien to him.
In regards to Pochettino, he took over at Southampton and then Tottenham when they were both down in the dumps, and managed to coach the players to greater things.
The likes of Jacob Ramsey, Matty Cash, Lucas Digne, Ollie Watkins and Philippe Coutinho would presumably go up a level under the Argentine, who has proven that he knows how to oversee a project.
Be sure to keep an eye on this situation, as the Villans hope to make a speedy appointment.
