TalkSPORT claim Aston Villa are considering a move for Brentford manager Thomas Frank after deciding to sack Steven Gerrard on Thursday night – following the club’s sixth defeat of the season, a 3-0 loss to Fulham at Craven Cottage.
Goals from Harrison Reed and Aleksandar Mitrovic, and an own goal from Tyrone Mings, saw Fulham cruise to an easy win. A second successive loss for Villa, in a season in which they have only picked up two Premier League victories.
Villa sit way down in 17th place with just nine points from 11 games. They are no better than when Gerrard took over at Villa Park, after a successful stint at Rangers. Managing 40 games, he won 13 only times, and lost almost half, 19.
That is, despite the amount of cash the club have spent and used to back Gerrard. Villa chose to sack Gerrard last night, just minutes after he vowed he would never “quit”. Reports claim attention has already turned to replacing him.
Indeed, Villa are considering a move to hire Frank. The Danish boss has been at Brentford since the summer of 2018, turned the Bees into a feared Premier League side – winning 92 of his 203 games. TalkSPORT report Villa are keen.

Villa considering move for Brentford manager Frank after Gerrard sack
Frank would be a superb appointment. But would he want to join a Villa side that are seven places and five points above the Midlands side? Frank is loved and adored by the Brentford faithful. Yes, he would have more cash at Villa.
But is it not a bit of a sideways move for the gaffer? Surely, the ex-Brondby manager would prefer to remain in London and continue his project with Brentford, further establishing them as a long-term Premier League club.
That, rather than risking it all to chance his arm at a club like Villa. Albeit a bigger club with more finances. It is a tricky one, you could understand Frank moving to Villa – but you would understand his decision more, to stay at Brentford.
