According to Christian Falk, Liverpool have made contact with the representatives of Chelsea target Konrad Laimer.
Liverpool make their move for Chelsea target
Well, the Austria international becomes a free agent in July, and it seems Liverpool are already putting plans in place to take advantage of his contract situation.
Falk – a journalist for Bild – adds that Bayern Munich are currently leading the race to sign Laimer, although that isn’t to say Liverpool aren’t in a strong position.
The 25-year-old has actually admitted that he supports the Reds, which you would presume gives Jürgen Klopp a significant advantage over Bayern Munich and Chelsea.
Speaking to Servus TV, Laimer said: “I generally like watching the Premier League. I’ve always been a Liverpool fan.”
The RB Leipzig No.27 – who Falk claims shares an agent with Naby Keita – has endured a difficult season so far as a result of injury issues, which have limited him to just six appearances across all competitions.
However – when fully fit – Laimer enjoyed a superb 2021/22 campaign, scoring five goals while also providing six assists as RB Leipzig reached the Europa League semi-final.
Liverpool must be wary of Konrad Laimer
In our view, Liverpool need to be sure that Laimer’s injury problems this season won’t trouble him in the long term.
Klopp is only looking at the Austrian as a result of regular injuries to the likes of Keita, Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain and Thiago, while his emergency option Arthur – signed on loan from Napoli – is now out until 2023 with an injury of his own.
Therefore, it would be a nightmare if Liverpool signed another midfield option in Laimer, only for him to also suffer frequent setbacks as well.

His current injury is described as a syndesmotic ligament tear, so hopefully, RB Leipzig allow that to heal properly before he returns to action.
Nevertheless, keep an eye on this situation, as it seems Liverpool are plotting a January move for Laimer after making contact with his agent.
