Thierry Henry labelled Mo Salah’s 6-minute and 12-second hat-trick during Liverpool’s 7-1 win over Rangers in the Champions League on Wednesday night as ‘wow’, as he told CBS Sports on Paramount+ (12/10/22 at 10:25 pm).

Despite being dropped to the bench by Jurgen Klopp at Ibrox, ahead of Liverpool’s heavyweight clash against Manchester City on Sunday, Salah still couldn’t keep himself away from the headlines.

The suggestion is that the £34 million star (BBC Sport) is out-of-form and he isn’t hitting the heights that previously resulted in him getting so many plaudits.

Well, try telling that to Rangers fans, who watched the so-called struggling Salah just rip them to shreds last night and embarrass them on their biggest European night in many years.

After 17 minutes, Rangers fans would have been in dreamland because they would have been thinking about the unthinkable, then they were introduced to Roberto Firmino, and later on Salah.

Nonetheless, as Jamie Carragher was reacting to Liverpool’s win over the Gers and the ‘confidence’ someone like Salah can take from last night’s performance, Henry could be heard purring in the background and stating ‘wow’, as Salah’s quickfire hat-trick, and that an all-time Champions League record, was being shown.

HAT-TRICK FROM THE BENCH

When Jurgen Klopp opted to put Salah on the bench for yesterday’s game, he probably had Sunday’s game in mind and the heavy fixture load awaiting teams ahead of the 2022 World Cup next month.

But, after substituting Salah during Liverpool’s defeat to Arsenal over the weekend, added with benching him in Glasgow, then it surely would have annoyed the 30-year-old.

And perhaps that little kick up the backside is what he needed because, if Liverpool’s superstar on the right can fire, then it can ignite their pretty damp season so far.

The Reds may well be facing one of the best teams in Europe right now on Sunday, but everyone knows Salah loves a goal or two against Manchester City, so don’t rule out the Egyptian speedster dancing to his own tunes again at the weekend.
