According to Football London, January could be a big month for Tottenham wonderkid Alfie Devine if he can avoid injuries.

Tottenham set to loan Bruno Fernandes 2.0

Earlier today, the Tottenham under-19 side took on Eintracht Frankfurt in the UEFA Youth League, where the north Londoners unfortunately suffered a 3-2 defeat.

However, Devine managed to score both goals for Spurs, leading to Alasdair Gold making an interesting claim.

The Tottenham correspondent for Football London believes the 18-year-old is highly likely to go out on loan in January if he can stay fit, which would be a huge step for his development.

Despite shining at youth level for a number of years now, Devine has never left Spurs on loan, so it would be his first genuine taste of regular senior football.

The teenager – who José Mourinho said reminded him of Bruno Fernandes, according to The Athletic – became the youngest goalscorer in Tottenham’s history with a goal in the 5-0 FA Cup win over Marine in January 2021.

Devine was just 16 years and 163 days old.

If he can avoid injuries, we know exactly where Antonio Conte and Fabio Paratici should send the England Under-19 international.

Tottenham must loan Alfie Devine to Portsmouth

In our view, Tottenham should attempt to loan Devine to Portsmouth in January.

The League One outfit have already taken Dane Scarlett on loan from Spurs for the 2022/23 campaign, and the 18-year-old is on fire at Fratton Park.

Scarlett has recorded five goal involvements in just 11 League One appearances, and it would make sense for Tottenham to send Devine to play with a familiar face at Portsmouth, who are clearly talented when it comes to working with youngsters.

Gavin Bazunu also spent time on loan at Portsmouth last season, before earning himself a £12m move to Southampton from Manchester City – the Republic of Ireland international is now a Premier League regular.

Hopefully, Devine can stay out of the treatment room and get himself a January loan exit.
