Chelsea are keen on Lee Congerton and have held talks with the Welshman who decided to leave Celtic back in 2019.

The Blues are undergoing major changes following Todd Boehly’s takeover.

Graham Potter has arrived as the club’s new manager whilst former RB Leipzig man Christopher Vivell is coming in as technical director.

Chelsea still want a new sporting director though and are considering a whole host of options as they overhaul their backroom staff.

Chelsea are keen on Lee Congerton

90Min claim that the likes of Victor Orta, Luis Campos and Paul Mitchell have all spoken to Chelsea about the vacancy.

Yet the name that will stun Celtic fans is Lee Congerton, as he has allegedly held talks over a move to Stamford Bridge too.

The Welshman currently serves as chief scout at Atalanta having made the move to Italy back in March of this year.

Congerton and the Atalanta recruitment team enjoyed a strong summer window, signing Ederson, Ademola Lookman, Brandon Soppy and Rasmus Hojlund.

Congerton has needed to rebuild his reputation after a rather difficult spell with Celtic between 2017 and 2019.

Deals for the likes of Marvin Compper, Charly Musonda, Jack Hendry, Oliver Burke, Vakoun Issouf Bayo, Marian Shved and Jeremy Toljan will ultimately live longer in the memory and the arrival of Odsonne Edouard.

Celtic fans weren’t exactly in love with Congerton and his work and his exit to join Brendan Rodgers at Leicester City was met with celebrations.

Congerton spent three more years with Rodgers before heading to Italy and Chelsea have seemingly been impressed with his work.

This would be a return to Stamford Bridge for Congestion, as he worked as their chief scout between 2005 and 2011 before joining Hamburg.

Congerton would be a surprise pick for Chelsea though and one that would leave Celtic fans everywhere scratching their heads.
