Lee Congerton has quit his role as Celtic’s Head of Recruitment.

Celtic fans on Twitter are celebrating Lee Congerton’s exit.

The Hoops announced today that Congerton has left his role as the club’s Head of Recruitment to ‘take up new opportunities’.

He joined Celtic over two years ago during Brendan Rodgers’s stint at Parkhead.

And some speculation in March indicated that Rodgers would be bringing him to the King Power Stadium [The Telegraph].

Congerton has never been a hugely popular figure among Celtic fans for overseeing a number of questionable transfers, including Jack Hendry and Marvin Compper.

It’ll be interesting to see if he reunites with Rodgers down South. One thing is for sure, Congerton won’t be on the panel to select Rodgers’s long-term successor in Glasgow.

Neil Lennon has undertaken the job on an interim basis, but if he fails to lead the Hoops to the Treble Treble then they might well look elsewhere.

A number of names have been linked to the role, with Di Marzio reporting last week that Jose Mourinho has been offered the job.
