Italian website Sassuolo News claim that Tottenham scouts were present to watch Sassuolo star Davide Frattesi score for the Serie A club on Saturday – amid reports Spurs are battling West Ham and Manchester United for the midfielder.
Frattesi, 23, is quickly establishing himself as one of Italy’s next-best midfielders – a regular for Sassuolo. He has also won himself four caps under Roberto Mancini for Italy. He has a deal with the Serie A side until the summer of 2026.
Joining the club in 2017 from Roma as a teenager, he spent his first season in the academy. The next three seasons, he went out on loan to Ascoli, Empoli and then Monza. Last season, he established himself in Sassuolo’ side.
This time around, he has continued his form – scoring three goals in nine Serie A games. That form is attracting interest from England. FC Inter News say West Ham want the £26m-rated man, while Gazzetta say Manchester United are keen.
Now, the new report claims that Tottenham scouts actually watched Frattesi on Saturday afternoon. The midfielder scored in a 2-1 defeat to Antonio Conte’s old side Inter Milan, and will have certainly caught the eye with his display.

Frattesi would be a brilliant signing. If Tottenham lack something, it is perhaps a goalscoring midfielder. A creative type that can finally see the North London club replace the loss of Christian Eriksen – when he left for Inter Milan.
Frattesi would provide that. During his 49 Sassuolo outings, he has had a hand in 11 goals – scoring seven and creating four. This season, he is really showing his creative spark. Even on loan at Monza, he scored eight goals in 41 games.
So, Frattesi knows where the back of the net is, but is more than defensively aware. The perfect kind of midfielder for Conte’s Tottenham. Whether Spurs can make a space for him is another question – but at £26m, he is somewhat cheap.
