PSG have reportedly scouted Shakhtar Donestk wonderkid Mykhaylo Mudryk, with Arsenal keen to sign the Ukrainian international in the January transfer window.

According to Media Foot, Paris transfer executive Luis Campos has begun work on scouting the 21-year-old superstar following a breakthrough season in the UEFA Champions League, with Mudryk bagging two goals and two assists in three appearances in the competition for Shakhtar.

Fabrizio Romano recently revealed on the Here We Go Podcast that Arsenal too are scouting the winger ahead of the January transfer window, with Mikel Arteta keen to add Mudryk to the Gunners’ growing list of impressive young players as competition for Gabriel Martinelli and Bukayo Saka.

With a valuation of £50m according to iNews, Mudryk would be quite the transfer for any club ahead of January, with many top sides chasing the attacker as 2023 nears ever closer. And for Arsenal, PSG’s interest could be a problem for the north London side.

Dubbed ‘the Ukrainian Neymar’ by the Mirror, PSG’s wealth in the transfer market as well as their new direction under Christophe Galtier could make the French champions favourites to sign Mudryk in January, especially with the future of Lionel Messi up in the air.

Indeed, the battle to sign the 21-year-old will arguably be one of the stories of the January transfer window. And for Arsenal, PSG could prove to be their biggest rivals in the race to sign Mudryk, who could soon head to France if the Gunners don’t act soon in the market.

PSG changed tact in a big way this summer by shifting their transfer policy from superstar names to players who can actually improve the squad in the long and short term, and Mudryk more than fits this bill for the reigning Ligue 1 champions, despite interest from Arsenal.

After all, Messi could well be enjoying his last season at PSG ahead of his last ever FIFA World Cup with Argentina, and signing Mudryk as a replacement would be an exciting addition for the French giants in 2023, especially alongside Kylian Mbappe and Neymar, the player so many currently compare the Ukrainian too.
