According to Simon Phillips, Chelsea now want to sign Tottenham and Manchester United target Jordan Pickford from Everton.
Chelsea join Tottenham & Manchester United in race for Jordan Pickford
Well, it was 90min who claimed that Spurs are keen to sign the £110,000-a-week man as they line up long-term replacements for Hugo Lloris, who turns 36 in December.
The Telegraph believe Manchester United are also keen as they consider heirs to David de Gea’s throne, but now, Chelsea have joined the race due to doubts over the future of Edouard Mendy.
Phillips believes Pickford has been identified by Graham Potter as a potential replacement for the Senegal international, suggesting he has no interest in reinstating Kepa Arrizabalaga back to the No.1 spot.

As things stand, Pickford – who Everton paid £25m for – will have just 12 months remaining on his contract at Goodison Park in the summer of 2023, which could see the Toffees cash in given the volume of interest.
The England international has captained Everton so far this season under Frank Lampard, making six Premier League appearances while also registering an assist in the 1-1 draw against Nottingham Forest.
Manchester United & Chelsea interest not ideal for Tottenham
With three Premier League giants all battling for the same player, a potential bidding war could be on the horizon.
Spurs presumably hoped they could sign Pickford for a modest fee in 2023 with his contract set to expire in 2024, although interest from Graham Potter and Erik ten Hag is sure to complicate proceedings.
Tottenham can certainly compete with Manchester United and Chelsea both competitively and financially, although Daniel Levy surely won’t want to spend more than £30m on a new glovesman.
According to The Athletic, the north Londoners regret missing out on Gavin Bazunu to Southampton, so perhaps a deal for the Republic of Ireland international will be explored if Pickford does become too expensive.
Whatever happens, it is far from ideal for Tottenham to be hunting for a new goalkeeper when Manchester United and Chelsea are doing the same – hopefully, a suitable Lloris replacement can be found.
