Mikel Arteta’s Arsenal want to sign Wolverhampton Wanderers midfielder Ruben Neves, who turned down Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool and Erik ten Hag’s Manchester United in the summer transfer window, according to Sport.

Sport had earlier claimed that Liverpool and Manchester United made contact with the agent of Wolves midfielder Neves in the summer of 2022.

The Portugal international midfielder did not pay any attention to the Reds and the Red Devils and is ready to wait until 2023 to join Barcelona, according to the report in the Spanish publication.

And now Sport have claimed that Arsenal are keen on signing the 25-year-old and are competing with Barcelona for the signature of the former FC Porto star, described as “a top, top player” and “sensational” by former Manchester United star Gary Neville on Sky Sports Premier League (7:29pm, March 18, 2022).

The Gunners reportedly wanted to sign Neves in the summer of 2022 and remain keen on securing his services.

Disappointment awaits for the Gunners?

If Ruben Neves is determined to join Barcelona, then we do not think that Arsenal will be able to convince the Wolverhampton Wanderers midfielder to move to the Emirates Stadium.

After all, Liverpool and Manchester United failed in their attempts to sign the Portuguese star in the summer of 2022.
