Arthur Melo has been described as being ‘excellent’ in Liverpool training as of late.
Liverpool signed the Brazil international on a season-long loan from Juventus on deadline day, with Jurgen Klopp desperately needing another body in midfield due to an injury crisis.
However, Arthur arrived at Anfield a little short on match fitness and has only managed 13 minutes under Klopp thus far.
But the 26-year-old played 90 minutes for the Reds’ Under-21 side this past weekend and featured again for the reserves on Tuesday night.
And the club’s Under-21 boss, Barry Lewtas, has lavished praise on the South American, claiming he’s been exceptional in training – both in terms of performances and integrating with the youngsters.

Lewtas told The Echo: “Arthur has been in over the international break to play games and build up his fitness. That’s off his own back, so that shows his level of professionalism. He has been great with the lads as well. He has been first-class.
“In training on Monday he was excellent, he really drove the lads and as a matchday minus one, it’s probably the best one we’ve had.
“He wants to get fit, he doesn’t need a week off, so it’s come from him. He doesn’t speak Scouse and I don’t speak Portuguese, but I think you can tell from the body language. In the meetings we went through some extra things and cleared a few things up. He has embraced it.”
It has previously been suggested that Liverpool could look to terminate Arthur’s agreement as early as January.
However, reliable Spanish journalist Guillem Balague revealed that there was absolutely nothing to that speculation and that he had been impressing Klopp’s coaching staff behind the scenes which, as Lewtas said here, is probably accurate.
It’ll be fascinating to see if he’s any more up to speed at Liverpool after the international break but, based on his recent outings for the reserves, he certainly should be and time will tell if he can now be ‘excellent’ on the field too.
