With Sporting v Tottenham Hotspur scheduled for Tuesday, some supporters have been wondering whether it’s going ahead.

Spurs’ trip to Manchester City this weekend was postponed as a result of the Queen’s death at the age of 96 on Thursday evening.

As a result, some have questioned whether the upcoming Champions League clash with the Portuguese outfit will proceed as planned.

A number of Tottenham supporters on Twitter noticed via their club’s official website that the fixture had been chalked down as postponed.

However, the club itself has reacted to the matter on Twitter, admitting it was an error on their part and that Sporting v Tottenham is going ahead.

Although the clash at the Etihad was axed, it’s reassuring to know that Tuesday’s European encounter will indeed be going ahead in the Portuguese capital.

Antonio Conte’s side won their first Champions League game of the campaign in midweek, edging out Marseille 2-0 in North London courtesy of a brace from £60 million summer signing Richarlison.

Sporting v Tottenham will be a fascinating encounter and although it would’ve been good for the Lilywhites to go to Eastlands on the back of a morale-boosting victory such as that, but it wasn’t to be and Ryan Mason, among Conte’s coaching staff, completely agreed with the decision to postpone Premier League fixtures this weekend.

In any case, Sporting v Tottenham will be going ahead as scheduled.
