According to The Athletic, Marseille forward Bamba Dieng is currently at the airport considering a move to OGC Nice, despite agreeing to join Leeds.
What’s the story?
Well, it was said that Leeds had agreed a £8.5m deal with Marseille for the Senegal international – Andrea Radrizzani even told fans to “welcome” the striker on Twitter.
However, Dieng is now at a private jet terminal in France with an aircraft on standby as he weighs up offers from both Leeds and OGC Nice.
Leeds initially targeted a move for Cody Gakpo – Victor Orta even flew out to the Netherlands – although the Dutchman decided to stay with PSV Eindhoven.
Now, a deal for his alternative hangs in the balance.
The Athletic add that Dieng was expected to travel to the United Kingdom to join Leeds earlier today.
Presumably, Jesse Marsch and Orta will be furious about this development, having previously struck an agreement with Marseille and the 22-year-old.
It comes after Leeds also failed with a move for Hwang Hee-chan, with Wolves fending off interest in the South Korean.
Who Leeds could turn to if Bamba Dieng joins OGC Nice
If the worst case scenario does happen for Leeds, there are more options for Marsch and Orta.
Martin Braithwaite has been mentioned as a target in the past, and earlier today, the Denmark international suddenly became a free agent as Barcelona terminated his contract.
If the Dane doesn’t end up at Elland Road, Leeds have expressed interest in Blackburn forward Ben Brereton Diaz, who is also being eyed by Fulham.

The Chile international would be a fantastic signing, having scored 22 goals in 37 Championship appearances last season. He has continued his fine form with three goal involvements in six league outings so far this term.
Keep an eye on developments at Elland Road, as Leeds are clearly working hard to strengthen their squad.
