It could be a quiet deadline day for Liverpool on the signings front.
Jurgen Klopp has been vocal over the past week about his realisation that the Reds need a new midfielder.
With Naby Keita, Thiago Alcantara, Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain and Curtis Jones out injured, Liverpool are down to the bare bones in this position.
There’s been a lot of exciting names linked over the past week, like Ruben Neves of Wolverhampton Wanderers, Barcelona’s Frenkie de Jong.
On Wednesday, Ian Wright claimed that Jude Bellingham would be an ‘unbelievable signing‘ for Liverpool.
But one name who Fabrizio Romano keeps getting asked about is Nicolo Barella.
There hasn’t been much speculation about the Italy international joining Jurgen Klopp’s side, and for good reason because according to the reliable Italian journalist, the transfer has ‘no chance’ of happening.
He told Caught Offside on Wednesday: “I know a lot of you want to know if Inter Milan’s Nicolo Barella is an option, but unfortunately, he is not. There is no chance for the Italian to move to Anfield this summer.”

Liverpool deadline day signings?
Well you’d never rule out Liverpool from making a late signing, because they’ve got the resources to sign someone, even if it isn’t De Jong or Bellingham.
However, John Henry, front man of FSG, was in attendance to watch Klopp’s side destroy Bournemouth 9-0 last Saturday in a victory which illustrates that despite the Reds’ injury crisis, things aren’t extraordinarily bad just yet.
They are, more or less, surviving at the moment and the German manager might have that excuse levelled at him if he requests a late addition from the club’s hierarchy today.
