Leeds now line up Wolves star Adama Traore to replace Tottenham target Dan James
According to 90min, Leeds United are now considering a move to sign Adama Traore from Wolverhampton Wanderers should Dan James leave Elland Road, with Tottenham Hotspur interested in a last-ditch move to sign the Welshman before Thursday night’s deadline hits.

Whites chiefs have not yet categorically ruled out James leaving West Yorkshire during the final days of the window. Club chiefs are prepared to consider what offers may fall on their table, just a year after paying Manchester United £25m and giving him a five-year contract.

Tottenham have also opened dialogue with Leeds to explore their interest in James joining Antonio Conte’s ranks this summer. Spurs are eager to improve their options at right-wing-back, and are also keen to add another forward option, if not one who can play both roles.
The north Londoners are unwilling to match the fee the Whites paid the Red Devils to sign the 24-year-old last summer, though. Alan Nixon reports Tottenham are only interested in paying £20m to sign James, who has four goals and five assists over 40 games at Leeds.
Alternatively, Fabrizio Romano has reported that Tottenham have approached Leeds over a possible loan-to-buy deal for James. Everton have also approached the Elland Road club to explore the possibility that the 34-cap international will be allowed to leave this week.

Adama Traore hopeful of Tottenham transfer despite Elland Road interest
Should progress be made in Tottenham or Everton’s efforts to sign James, Leeds could turn to Wolves and revive their interest in Traore as his replacement. The Whites are one of the Spaniard’s long-term admirers, as are Spurs who see him taking the same role as James.
However, 90min reported earlier this week that Wolves are pricing potential suitors out of signing Traore. The Molineux hierarchy still want a suitable fee for the forward, despite the 26-year-old being in the last year of his contract, having also earned interest from Chelsea.
Traore has sought to leave the West Midlands outfit this summer, after returning from his unsuccessful return to Barcelona on loan last season. He still aspires to sign for Spurs, too, while The Athletic have noted Wolves told Everton they would accept £10m to sell Traore.
Former Tottenham boss Nuno Espirito Santo paid Traore’s £18m release clause to sign him from Middlesbrough during his time with Wolves in 2018. The eight-cap star – who Jurgen Klopp once called ‘unplayable’ – has played 30 Premier League minutes so far this season.
