Steve Cooper’s Nottingham Forest could be about to sign Houssem Aouar from Lyon ahead of Mikel Arteta’s Arsenal in the summer transfer window, according to MediaFootFrance.
Nottingham Forest about to sign Arsenal-linked Houssem Aouar
The report in the French news outlet has claimed that Aouar himself wants to join Nottingham Forest, who could complete the signing of the Lyon midfielder by the end of the weekend.
The Reds reportedly wanted to sign Lucas Paqueta, but the Brazilian midfielder is moving to Premier League rivals West Ham United instead.
Interestingly, Aouar has been linked with Mikel Arteta’s Arsenal as well in the summer transfer window.
The Sun reported earlier this summer that Arsenal were keen on the 24-year-old France international midfielder and were in pole position for his signature.
Described as “incredible” by Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola on BBC Sport in November 2018, the Frenchman has been linked with Arsenal in previous seasons, but it seems that he could now end up at Forest instead.

Stats
Aouar is one of the better midfielders in Ligue 1, and if Forest are able to secure his services this summer, then it would be quite a coup for him.
The France international midfielder made 29 starts and seven substitute appearances in Ligue 1 for Lyon last season.
The 24-year-old scored six goals and gave four assists in those matches.
