Mikel Arteta’s Arsenal are leading the race for Lyon midfielder Houssem Aouar, according to The Sun.

The report in the British tabloid has claimed that Arsenal are interested in signing Aouar from Lyon in the summer transfer window.

Real Betis and Real Sociedad are keen on the France international midfielder as well, according to RMC Sport.

Would Houssem Aouar make Arsenal better?

In our view, Houssem Aouar would be a good signing for Arsenal in the summer transfer window, but only at the right price.

If Lyon want a ridiculous transfer fee for the midfielder, then Arsenal should simply walk away from a potential deal.

The France international is 23 now, which means that he would fit in nicely in Mikel Arteta’s young and dynamic squad at Arsenal.

Described as “incredible” by Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola on BBC Sport in November 2018, Aouar has European experience which would come handy in Arsenal’s quest to make an impact in the Europa League next season.

Aouar made 29 starts and seven substitute appearances for Lyon in Ligue 1 this season.

The Lyon no. 8 scored six goals and gave four assists in those matches.

The French midfielder also scored two goals in nine Europa League matches this season.
