According to Sam Pilger, Crystal Palace are likely to sign Aaron Wan-Bissaka from Manchester United before the September 1st deadline.
What’s the story?
Well, it was said that Erik ten Hag is happy to sell the 24-year-old to the south Londoners if he can sign another right-back, with Borussia Dortmund defender Thomas Meunier in his sights.
However, the Bundesliga side have now revealed that they have no intention of selling the Belgium international, which plunged Wan-Bissaka’s return to Selhurst Park in doubt.
However, Pilger – who has written for The Athletic and The Times – believes the deal will happen.
Wan-Bissaka has played just four minutes of the 2022/23 Premier League campaign so far, coming on alongside Cristiano Ronaldo as a late substitute in the 2-1 win over Liverpool. Ten Hag has preferred to use Diogo Dalot.
Barcelona are also said to be interested in signing the Manchester United No.29 this summer.
Patrick Vieira isn’t exactly short of options in his right-back department, although context is needed.
Joel Ward turns 33 in October, while Nathaniel Clyne also isn’t really an option for the future as he turns 32 in April.
If the deal happens, it would surely come with the seal of approval from Ian Wright, who once described Wan-Bissaka as the best defensive right-back in England.
Crystal Palace bringing Wan-Bissaka home could be great business
Given Ten Hag’s desire to shift the defender, it has been said that Crystal Palace could even sign him for just £10m.
That would be phenomenal business seeing as it was only in 2019 when the Eagles received £50m for their academy graduate.

Wan-Bissaka remains a fine player, and he isn’t the only man to stagnate at Old Trafford in these past few years, which have been chaotic for Manchester United, to say the least.
In our view, he would quickly restore his value to the region of £40m if he is given regular starts by Vieira, who already boasts a fantastic set of defenders such as Marc Guéhi, Tyrick Mitchell and Joachim Andersen.
Keep an eye on this situation, as Wan-Bissaka looks likely to return to Crystal Palace.
