According to Neil Jones, Liverpool admire the recent performances of Arsenal target Moises Caicedo – who has been shining for Brighton.

What’s the story?

Well, the Seagulls signed the Ecuador international for just £4m in 2021 – now, they could already make a significant profit after just 11 Premier League appearances for the 20-year-old.

It has been said that Liverpool are preparing a £42m bid for the South American as Jürgen Klopp aims to deal with his midfield crisis, and when quizzed on those stories, Jones gave an interesting answer.

Speaking to The Red Men TV, Goal’s Liverpool correspondent said: “I’ve heard nothing on Moises Caicedo apart from Liverpool are admiring his form.”

It comes after another journalist in Dean Jones claimed that Arsenal could also bid for the Brighton No.25 before the September 1st deadline.

Caicedo has played every minute in the Premier League so far this season, helping Graham Potter record wins over Manchester United and West Ham, as well as a respectable point against Newcastle.

Liverpool & Arsenal should be quick

In our view, Klopp and Mikel Arteta must quickly decide if they want to make a move for Caicedo ahead of the September 1st deadline.

Why? Well, it has been said that Newcastle are planning to make a significant swoop for the Ecuadorian in 2023.

Previously, the Magpies would not have posed much of a threat to the likes of Liverpool and Arsenal in the transfer market, but things are different nowadays after the Saudi Arabian takeover.

Newcastle are about to obliterate their transfer record after agreeing a £59m deal to sign the 22-year-old Alexander Isak, a player who scored six goals in La Liga last season.

If they can do that for someone who isn’t proven in the Premier League, you can be sure Newcastle will splash out heavily to sign Caicedo if he is still available next summer.

Therefore, it is decision time for Liverpool and Arsenal – keep an eye on the situation as we enter the final week of the window.
